Camp is an incredible place, not just in the sense of the magic we know and love, but also because of the wings that we often give our staff. Allison Hillstrom first came to Keystone as our trips coordinator in the summer of 2024. She then transitioned into a full-time role, serving as an associate director on our year-round team for the past two summers. She has spread her wings, and left Keystone to pursue a career in Charlotte, NC. We are so grateful for her many contributions and time spent at camp. We will miss her dearly! But, as the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens with new opportunities. We are incredibly excited to announce that Kendall Thomas is stepping into the Staff Director position, and Laney Goodrum is stepping into the Programming Director role!
Laney hails from Austin, Texas, and is a 2026 graduate of Kenyon College with a degree in Art History and English. Many of you may know Laney as our Evening Programs Coordinator this summer, but her tenure with Keystone Camp began long before that. After coming as a first-year camper in 2014 as a fourth-grader, Laney was a longtime Keystone 3-weeker. Over the years, she worked her way through our leadership program, eventually becoming a counselor. After taking a break to pursue other summer interests for a couple of years, I got a text message late last spring from Laney asking if we had any roles left to fill for the summer. Little did we know that Laney’s spontaneous ask and my “absolutely!” quick response would lead to an incredible summer of evening programs and a pathway forward to a full-time job.
Laney’s background is not limited to programming. As an active member of the performing arts community at Kenyon, she brought an incredible amount of talent to Keystone, and ran everything from our dance program to our performance nights. We are delighted to have Laney on board. She brings an incredible amount of historical knowledge and experience to the team. She and Kendall will be a dynamic duo that will not only keep camp moving and evolving into the future, but also maintaining the tradition and vibe we all know and love.
