Only Five Months to Go!

Happy New Year, Keystone Girls! The holidays seemed longer than usual this year, and for that, I am thankful. I spent some time ironing yesterday. Mind you, I HATE ironing. So much so, that the last piece in my basket was my camp opening day shirt from LAST summer. Ironing that shirt prompted me to realize that opening day is a mere 5 months away… So much has been going on. The dining hall has newly refinished floors that gleam in the daylight. We also have a new batch of chairs to replace the ones that had seen better days. The Lodge porch railings have a new coat of paint as do the Pavilion railings. We have replaced some of the gym flooring, and several cabins are due for new exterior paint as the weather warms up.

On the BIG projects side of life, so much is going on! Crows Nest is getting an interior redo, and we are so excited to share. The entrance to the cabin has moved, and you will gain a nice porch surrounded by benches with a great view. Inside the bunkroom will have floor space like the other cabins, and the sinks will be located on the bunk floor. Upstairs, we are reconfiguring the bathroom to accommodate two separate shower rooms. We are all very excited by this work.
While you stand on the new porch at Crows Nest, you can look down and see the reworking of the badminton courts as well as the site development for the new Crabapple and the new Pisgah. Instead of being stacked on top of one another, the two cabins will form and L-shape with connected PigPens. This may be difficult to picture, so as the work takes shape, we will keep you posted. For now, enjoy the photos of the heavy equipment!

We have also been working with Domokur Architects on a new plan for campfire…which will also mean a new location…at the back of the canoeing lake. This is a work in progress, so look for updates soon.
I think we might have enough on our plate for the new year. We can’t wait to share it with you!
