We Have Our Holiday Presents

The holidays arrived early at Keystone this year. We received two AMAZING gifts: Associate Director Mary-Elizabeth Dixon (more affectionately known as MED), and Assistant Director Martha Hughes. Heidi, Anna, Jessica and I could not be more excited about these two new additions to the Keystone Crew, and we are so happy to be able to introduce them to you.

MED originally hails from Charlotte, North Carolina, and is a 2016 graduate of Furman University. She has spent 12 years in the girls’ camping world and most recently worked as the waterfront director and the assistant director for special programs at Camp High Rocks. MED learned all about Keystone from one of her roommates, 12 year Keystone veteran Darby Dame. MED has hit the ground running, and we could not be happier.

Martha grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky. She is also a long-time girls’ camp attendee, and she spent her fall working school programs for Camp High Rocks. Obviously, MED and Martha have a lot in common! She graduated from Presbyterian College in May of 2017. As you may know, Presbyterian has enjoyed a strong following in the Keystone family, so Martha is a great fit for us, and you will really enjoy her sense of fun. Martha has been known to snorkel in the Davidson River in search of rare salamanders, and she is the proud pet parent of Harriet, the turtle. Martha did confess that she is a big University of Kentucky basketball fan, so as long as we can call a truce through basketball season, we have the recipe for success. I do expect a few debates over which shade of blue is true blue: Duke blue or Kentucky blue?

2017 is ending on a very high note for us. Our staff is complete, and our open houses have been so much fun. Most recently we have been to Charleston, South Carolina, Washington, D.C. and Charlotte, North Carolina. We will have more on the travel calendar in the new year (Florida and Georgia for sure), and we will be in touch when we head your way. Faraway is coming along nicely, and the footers have been poured for Skylark. The off-season at camp is almost as busy as the summer.

We wish each of you a very merry holiday season, and a very Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in 2018!

Love to all,

Page, Heidi, Anna, Jessica, MED, Martha and Ira Jean
