Hello August! We’re so happy to welcome our lovely two week and key campers!
Opening day was, as always, packed with fun! After the girls moved in, we enjoyed chicken tenders, cous cous, and french fries for lunch. From there, we rotated from games in the gym to activity sign ups and swim tests. The afternoon was filled with a brief walk through our activities and then we ate Ms. Bertha’s spaghetti for dinner. Finally, it was time for the first campfire of the August session! We gathered around, sang songs, and listened to Kat read us a book about perspective. The day closed with taps on the hill.
Monday kicked us off for our first full day of camp! The wake-up bell rang at 7:30 and by 8:20, we were eating a breakfast of blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs, and grits, soon followed by assembly in the Pavilion. The girls got to experience their first morning full of activities. By 12:45, we were ready for a lunch of quesadillas and then rest hour. Our last three activities occupied the afternoon until free swim and a dinner of beans, rice, and sausage. The evening program was KC Adventure Quest, a scavenger hunt where the girls go around with their cabins trying to complete as many activities as they can. These range from singing off the See-off porch to jumping into the swim lake.
Tuesday begins our trips for the session. Along with daily activities, girls can take mini trips away from camp. Today’s include a climbing trip to Cove Creek, tubing, a canoe trip to the French Broad, swimming at Skinny Dip Falls, swimming at Coontree, and hiking at Triple/Hooker Falls. Wow! Our LITs and Aides will also leave for the leadership camp out tonight while our Elves and Pixies are enjoying Sliding Rock and Dolly’s and our Dryads are enjoying cabin adventure.
Thank you, ladies, for an amazing first couple days. We can’t wait for what the next 2 weeks have in store!
